Plasmon‐Mediated Photocatalytic Decomposition of Formic Acid on Palladium Nanostructures

Abstract
Pd nanostructures function both as light absorber and catalyst for the decomposition of aqueous formate to H2 and CO2 at room temperature. Energetic charge carriers generated pursuant to surface plasmon excitation function as catalytic intermediates increasing the catalytic activity of Pd nanostructures by more than two orders of magnitude.
