Abstract
An analysis-by-synthesis procedure for estimating the glottal configuration from acoustic and glottographic signals is described. Combinations of airflow, electroglottograph, photoglottograph, accelerometer, and microphone signals are used as inputs. Amplitude and frequency are first extracted from each cycle. The waveforms in each cycle are then parametrized by least-squares fitting of model waveforms [I. R. Titze, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 75, 570–580 (1984)] that are based on an abduction quotient, a shape quotient, and a phase quotient, in addition to vibrational amplitude and period. Comparison is made here between configurations obtained from single waveforms and multiple waveforms. [Work supported by NINCDS.]
