Abstract

Background Adults with diabetes mellitus demonstrate increased levels of myocardial extracellular volume fraction (ECV), a measure of myocardial interstitial fibrosis. Stepwise linear regression identified HFpEF (·=0.27; P=0.0065), HbA1C (·=0.27; P=0.0065), African-American ethnicity (·=0.27; P=0.0065) and body mass index (·=0.27; P=0.0065) as independent predictors of ECV (Figure).
