Tissues and organs: a text-atlas of scanning electron microscopy
W. H. Freeman
1979
Abstract
This module is a comprehensive illustration of the scanning microscopic appearance of cells and tissues of the body. Three dimensional features of intra-, inter-, and extracellular structures and their relationships are portrayed at different levels of magnification and are compared with transmission and light microscopic appearances. Casts of the vascular and microvascular supply of numerous organs are examined. The heart, nerve-skeletal muscles relations, intracellular organelles are not included, and information, such as that on the ventricular system of the brain, is not up to date. The quality of the slides and text are very good, but some slides contain too much minute detail, and an overall index and specific identification would be helpful. This program is highly recommended to supplement course work in histology, gross anatomy, and embryology.
