Abstract
This chapter will introduce readers to Group Focal Conflict Theory and how central concepts of this theory can be applied to process observation in groups. Group Focal Conflict Theory provides a framework for understanding group dynamics in relationship to interpersonal concerns that commonly appear when groups of people come together, whether for support, work, or education. Key components of the theory will be described and illustrated through case scenarios, with specific guidance for enhancing process observation across different types of groups.
