Abstract
This chapter reviews the epidemiology, pathoetiology, and treatment of shoulder instability. Concepts such as the blurred lines between laxity and instability are discussed. Classification schemes and how those classifications guide the treatment of shoulder instability are provided. To help summarize this information, the authors outline their preferred methods of rehabilitation for both traumatic and atraumatic (multidirectional) shoulder instability. In addition, the postoperative rehabilitation of many stabilization surgeries is discussed, building off a template of the postoperative rehabilitation of an arthroscopic anterior stabilization procedure.
