Abstract
The lower respiratory system is a hierarchical system with two functional and structural components: the conducting tract (airways) and the respiratory zone. Differences between mouse and human exist in both the gross anatomy and histology of the lungs. Many of these are due to species differences in size, metabolic rate, and respiratory rate.
