Abstract
As the name suggests, ankylosing spondylitis (AS) will affect the spine in most if
not all patients. Spinal surgery in these patients will generally be spinal fusions/
arthrodesis, osteotomies, or spinal canal decompressions. As in all spine surgery,
complications may occur, but there are certain aspects of AS which cause a specific
spectrum of complications.
