Abstract

We have been learning how films provide political experiences. They do so for various reasons: to sympathize or criticize, to inspire actions or invent alternatives, to think through ideas or argue contentions. In doing so, they deploy myriad devices of sight and sound. These become powerful, popular conventions for informing and amusing us. Since movies and other electronic media shape our ideas and dispositions, especially for everyday life, we do well to appreciate their rhetorics.
