Abstract
Initial management recommended for the treatment of urinary incontinence in women includes behavioral therapies and lifestyle modifications. These treatments include dietary modifications, fluid and caffeine management, reduction of alcohol and tobacco intake, timed voiding and bladder training, bowel management, exercise, weight loss, and recommendations regarding absorptive products and skin care. Given their minimal risk and potential effectiveness, these treatments are considered first-line in the management of urinary incontinence in women and should be recommended to women seeking care prior to higher risk and invasive therapies.
