Abstract
This chapters focuses on the beef processing plant Iowa Premium Beef (IPB) in Tama, Iowa, and the incorporation of religious language into the company’s mission and goals. The CEO and white-collar leaders of the plant use the language of stewardship, values, and family when talking about the work that they do and the work that their employees do. IPB, like many meatpacking plants across the Midwest, have a large African, Burmese, and Latina/o workforce and workers’ religious faith helps them cope with the difficult and dangerous jobs that they do.
