Abstract
This chapter will provide an overview of recent workflow developments concerning digitally aided implant provisionalization. Compared to traditional analog approaches, digitally aided implant provisionalization is often tethered to computer-guided implant planning and placement protocols, requiring meticulous treatment planning and communication amongst interdisciplinary team members involved with implant replacement therapy. An overview of how computer-guided protocols may influence digitally aided implant provisionalization will be reviewed, followed by prosthetic design considerations that need to be considered when provisionalization is implemented. Clinical case examples of implant provisionalization conducted by various digital workflows will be presented to compare and contrast relative levels of surgical and prosthetic restriction, depending on the preferences of the interdisciplinary team and clinical case requirements. Alternative digital approaches will also be presented to optimize the peri-implant mucosa without a coronal restorative component during implant osseointegration.
