Abstract

The cilioretinal artery was first described by Müller [1] in 1856. Its existence is a congenital anomaly. It belongs to the posterior ciliary artery system, so it usually arises from the peripapillary choroid or directly from one of the short posterior ciliary arteries; this origin has important clinical implications, as discussed below. Various anatomical aspects of cilioretinal arteries are discussed in detail in Chap. 10.1007/978-3-319-12781-1_3. Following is a brief summary.
Central Retinal Artery Central Retinal Artery Occlusion Central Retinal Vein Occlusion Giant Cell Arteritis Retinal Vein Occlusion
