Abstract
Biochemical modulation of fluoropyrimidines has now been evaluated clinically for more than a decade in the treatment of colorectal carcinoma and more recently in other tumors. Although real progress has been made in terms of increased response rate1”3 there has been little, if any, effect on survival. Several approaches have been used in an attempt to improve on response rates and impact on survival with fluoropyrimidine modulation. Some of these are listed in Table 1.
