Abstract
Intensive field sampling campaigns of southern Lake Michigan were initiated in the late-winter of 1998, 1999, and 2000 in connection with Episodic Events-Great Lakes Experiment (EEGLE). Air and water samples were collected during several sampling campaigns for each of the three field years that corresponded to conditions prior to, during, and after a large-scale sediment resuspension event in southern Lake Michigan. This intense field sampling effort has resulted in nearly 140 water (dissolved-phase and suspended sediment) and 120 air (gas-phase and aerosol particulate) samples that were analyzed for a suite of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) including polychlorinated biphenyl congeners (PCBs). In this poster, we present concentration results and examine spatial and temporal variations resulting from sediment resuspension in southern Lake Michigan.
