Abstract
Our politics concern our communities, and our communities take their forms and contents from our communications. Rhetoric constructs and analyzes these forms and contents, especially with respect to their politics. For a century, already, popular movies have remained prominent in the culture and politics of America. Continuing technological innovation so far has been keeping movies on the forefront of political mythmaking by reproducing them in myriad electronic media. Therefore rhetorical analysis of the politics in popular movies can contribute significantly to our comprehension of politics and communications in the United States and beyond. Film takes can help do this; and these takes on horror, thriller, war, and science-fiction movies can show how.
