Abstract

Cutaneous intravascular conditions discussed here comprise a heterogeneous group of lymphoid and histiocytic conditions which manifest in the skin and are characterized by localization of lesional cells to the intravascular compartment. These cutaneous intravascular conditions encompass intravascular lymphomas (of B or NK/T origin), as well as suspected reactive proliferative states, including intravascular histiocytosis. Familiarity with these conditions facilitates recognition of potentially aggressive lymphomas (intravascular lymphoma) which with their variable systemic and cutaneous presentations is often missed and allows their critical distinction from other malignancies (e.g., cutaneous metastases) and from nonmalignant entities, such as vascular proliferations or intravascular histiocytosis.
