Abstract
Tense cutaneous bullae occurring after an acute exacerbation of swelling/edema, often in a patient with baseline edema or anasarca. Most commonly effects the elderly and immobile patient, or acutely ill patients (such as those with sepsis after early goal directed therapy and large volume IVF resuscitation); potential underlying etiologies include decompensated hepatic, cardiac, or renal disease, or acute venous outflow obstruction.
