Abstract
This chapter explores the taboo topics of gender identity and mental illness through Donna Gephart's young adult novel Lily and Dunkin. Two English education scholars, a school psychology scholar, and a secondary English Language Arts teacher work together to present a range of multimedia sources and activities teachers might use to engage students with this text and these issues.
