Abstract
This chapter provides a description of one woman’s migration journey from her homeland of Mexico to the United States. Like many women before her, Rosa is a woman who crosses the border to escape poverty and to work toward a more prosperous future for her family. The rural Midwest is Rosa’s final destination and Iowa is her geographic American Dream. This introductory chapter sets the stage for the remainder of the book which focuses on migrants to the United States who come to work and to raise their families. Like Rosa, many of the new individuals and their families are fortified by their religious faith.
