Abstract
Laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication is performed for gastroesophageal reflux disease unresponsive to maximal medical treatment, unwillingness or inability to remain on lifelong acid suppression therapy, or concurrently with symptomatic hiatal hernia repairs. Manometric studies should confirm absence of any significant esophageal dysmotility. This chapter describes indications, essential steps, variations, and complications of this procedure. It provides a detailed template operative note for the procedure.
