Abstract
Neoadjuvant radiation and chemotherapy are frequently employed for locally advanced rectal cancer. When the tumor is obstructing or near-obstructing, some sort of decompressive strategy is needed. Open colostomy was, for many years, the standard approach. Two minimalaccess techniques of endoluminal stenting and laparoscopic colostomy have emerged and are explored in this chapter.
