Abstract
Dental implant surgery is considered to be safe with a high success rate and minimal complications. However, complications can arise both in implant surgery and during adjunctive procedures such as sinus augmentation. These complications are usually minimal, but more severe complications can also occur. The sinus lift procedure of the maxillary sinus is a delicate procedure. Risks and complications include perforation of the sinus membrane, intraoperative or post‐operative hemorrhage, infection, graft resorption, and loss of the graft or implants. Careful pre‐operative planning and intraoperative surgical technique can help decrease or prevent complications.
