Abstract

The medial ulnar collateral ligament complex (Fig. 21.1), together with the radial head and the flexor-pronator mass, acts as restraints to valgus instability of the elbow and may become damaged by repetitive microtrauma in overhead athletes [1–3]. UCL reconstruction has become the gold standard of treatment for UCL rupture or partial tears in throwing athletes while new surgical techniques have demonstrated increasingly promising outcomes for UCL repair.
