Abstract
To date, the only medical contraceptive options are those available to women. Due to intolerance or other side effects, some women are unable to use these methods and thus many couples are left with limited options for safe and effective contraception. There is significant interest in developing male alternatives to medical contraception, and many are currently under investigation. This article will review medical contraceptive options for males including both hormonal and nonhormonal formulations that are in varying stages of development.
