Altered age-related physiologic function present concomitantly with ageing degenerative chronic diseases, multiple comorbidities, in/sensitivity with medications and polypharmacy is the a very common scenario in Older adults. Altered metabolism makes management even more difficult for practitioners. Thus, understanding of age-related human physiology and its impacts, knowledge about pain management guidelines and limitations is critical for a pain practitioners. Practitioners should use widely available tools upon selection of medications to decrease risk of harm to older adults while managing pain.
