Abstract
Lurking in darkness, seen seldom and then only for a moment at the edge of the frame, the Monster is coming. It comes angrily, hungrily, uncannily, ceaselessly for our stand-ins on the screen. (It comes for us!) When can they know? Where can they go? What must they do? (Run! Run!!) Early victims panic in terror as they glimpse the disfigured form. They shiver in horror at the supernatural size or speed or strength. They cower in dread of the sinister sound and strangely seductive gaze. (Don’t Look Now!) The Monster comes. The night goes red!
