Abstract
Complications following ischemic stroke are common and can interfere with multiple domains within a patient’s life. The goal of poststroke care is to aggressively manage and prevent complications while improving patient survival, long-term functional outcome, and quality of life. In this chapter, we will review the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and management aspects of common complications following ischemic stroke.
