Abstract
This chapter introduces program evaluation, a process particularly useful to school leaders who want to know how a program is working, whether it is implemented with fidelity, and what specific components of the program should be targeted to improve the program going forward. The first part of the chapter will define evaluation and compare it with research. The next section describes logic models as a visual representation of a program’s theory of action. Types of program evaluation are then presented with illustrative examples from the field of PK-12 education. The chapter concludes with recommendations for novice evaluators.
