Abstract
There are many factors outside individual control that affect people’s health status and outcomes. These are the social determinants of health. Public relations professionals address and influence social determinants of health through a variety of ways—changing public opinion and social cultural norms, framing the way audiences understand health issues, raising awareness of health issues among citizens through all kinds of media, and influencing policymakers who make laws and legislation. There are many types of organizations involved in shaping a nation’s health; and it is critical to understand how they use public relations to construct our lived experiences.
