Abstract

Reliability plays a central role in educational measurement and social science research. It provides a set of concepts and indices for assessing the proportionate amount of random error contained in data. While all educational measurements contain some level of measurement error, the particular types of assessments used in the social sciences are especially vulnerable to measurement error.
