Abstract
We explore why practitioners resist scientific evidence and what academics—as researchers and educators—can do to promote its use. Evidence shows that practitioners often disbelieve, dismiss, or simply ignore findings from scientific studies. Drawing parallels between the fields of medicine and management, we discuss seven sources of resistance to research findings. Then, based on the relatively longer history of evidence-based medicine, we make recommendations for management academics wishing to more effectively advance evidence-based management.
