Abstract
The group of salivary gland neoplasms is diverse and demonstrates a variety of histological types. They account for up to 6% of head and neck tumours with malignant lesion having a population incidence of 1/100,000 cases. The cause of salivary tumours is unclear although some risk factors have been identified for malignancy including radiation exposure, previous radioactive iodine treatment, history of other malignancy, and a preexisting benign salivary tumour.
