Abstract
One of the earliest applications of laparoscopy was abdominal exploration. Indeed, laparoscopy was applied to the evaluation of stable trauma patients before diagnostic peritoneal lavage, ultrasound, and computed tomographic scanning were accepted modalities. The role of laparoscopy in the evaluation of the stable trauma patient is explored in this chapter.
