Abstract
The decline in public trust in the press is well documented (Some argue that it is so well documented that we as a field must move beyond it and recognise that trust is not a measure of our work. This contention leaves journalism scholars and educators at a crossroads: do we continue to pursue the plight of audiences' trust or find ways to move beyond it? This chapter begins by providing context to the journalists' trust dilemma and, in doing so, connecting it to journalism education. We then focus on solutions, particularly by explaining how journalism educators can instruct students and communities about trust and build a critical infrastructure in curricula that emphasises news-literate practices, behaviours, and values.
