Abstract
Pancreatic anomalies, tumor, and disease processes are relatively rare in children, but when they occur can cause significant pain and debility and require a systematic and creative approach to diagnosis and management. As in adults, the pancreas is a delicate organ that is prone to iatrogenic injury, inflammation, and leaks, which can be even more difficult to manage than the underlying disorder. Dedicated multidisciplinary teams achieve better outcomes and patients benefit from our understanding of the intricate anatomy and special needs of the pancreas at the time of surgery. In this chapter, we review the many various conditions that affect the pancreas and how to approach them.
