Abstract
Focused on the meaning of the intersection of nation and religion, chapter 6 explores that relationship with reference to the story of the apparition of the Virgin Mary in 1968, after the 1967 defeat. Interested in spirituality as it was understood before 1970, Belli considers ecumenism; Copts and Muslims; spiritual and religious practices which, in the 1950s〈n〉60s, were conducive to interfaith solidarity; and the historical utterance of interfaith unity.
