Abstract
Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) is an uncommon cause of acute stroke that can become a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) techniques have significantly evolved over the past decade, but the data regarding the efficacy and safety of MT for CVST remains poorly defined. Most evidence is limited to small case series and pooled reviews, and high-quality data from randomized trials of endovascular therapy of CVST is currently lacking. In this chapter, we provide a comprehensive discussion of the feasible approaches and techniques for endovascular management of CVST. Presenting some of our institutional experience in the field, we aim to provide some technical tips for the successful endovascular treatment of this disease.
