Abstract
Approximately half of all surgical procedures in the U.S. are performed in patients ≥65 years of age [1]. Furthermore, 50 % of new cancer diagnoses are made in patients ≥70 years of age [2]. Many elderly patients have complex physiologic and functional issues which merit consideration when considering surgical intervention.
