Abstract
The stated intent of the author in writing this book was to provide a visual teaching atlas of clinical and surgical orbital anatomy. Jonathan J. Dutton, MD, PhD, accomplished his task and a lot more. The text provides a surprising new and refreshing approach to visualizing orbital anatomy. There are 10 chapters, which together consist of 232 pages, and 215 illustrations that include 100 histologic sections of the orbit. The chapters are divided into individual anatomic sections: osteology, ocular muscles, nerves, arterial supply, venous system, connective tissue, eyelids, lacrimal system, histology, and radiographic correlations.This book is unique in the quality of its narration and illustrations. The illustrations are based on over 300 histologic sections, 150 μm thick. Each anatomic section listed above was individually projected, magnified, and traced onto a transparent polyester film sheet.
