Abstract
Calvino's success in Brazil is the result of a centuries-long relationship: "The presence of Italian works and authors is a historical constant in the exchange between the two countries" (23). [...]in China, the first two translations (from English) were published relatively late in 1991 and 1993, then followed by a third translation in 2001. Besides analyzing the positive reception of Invisible Cities in China in "Italo Calvino and Invisible Cities in China" (16584), Nicoletta Pesaro compares the three versions in relation to the translators' cultural and sociological backgrounds. In the third part of the essay collection, we learn how Invisible Cities has inspired art, new forms of architecture, and artistic projects that experiment with form around the world, especially in Japan and in the East.
