Choice, Vol.51(9), p.1571

Abstract
In his preface to this three-volume encyclopedia, editor [Charles M. Tatum] (Univ. of Arizona) presents the work at hand as an introduction to the breadth of expressions of US Latino culture without attempting to be comprehensive. Over 100 pages of introductory material include a chronology; a historical explanation of "Hispanic," "Latino," and other terms; and historical and geographic overviews, including primary documents (e.g., the Monroe Doctrine, El Plan de Santa Bárbara).
