Abstract
An annual that will update the practitioner on a variety of "hot topics" in ophthalmology in a compact, yet comprehensive, manner is a concept whose time has come. In his Ophthalmology Annual: 1985, Dr Reinecke and 13 respected authorities in several ophthalmic subspecialties provide the first edition of such a series. This volume contains ten chapters, which are devoted to topics that have recently become important (eg, computer technology), that have evolved considerably in recent years (eg, laser management of glaucoma), or that are of extreme clinical importance (eg, corneal ulcers). While it is stressed in the introduction that these are not "review articles," most of the chapters provide a good historical background of the topic, with discussion of the pathophysiology and therapy of the disease.
