Abstract
Reviews the book, Behavior Analysis for Lasting Change by Beth Sulzer-Azaroff and G. Roy Mayer (1991). This book comprehensive in its coverage and well referenced, with over 1,300 references. The first chapter, and the first section of each subsequent chapter, provide helpful advanced organizers of the material that follows, and well-reasoned examples are included to facilitate comprehension. This organization, plus the generally good quality of writing, should make it possible for instructors of graduate-level courses to assume that their students can read the book independently of any lecture. In my view, it is best to use this book to provide the student with the basic procedures common to behavior modification and then use lecture and discussion periods to supplement the text with more specific or advanced material. Overall, this is a welcome textbook for the field of behavior analysis and, when used with supplemental readings, provides an introductory but comprehensive understanding
