Abstract
Updated performance models for bifacial PV are being developed at NREL. We are in the process of validating these optical models against field trial configurations, and commercial bifacial models. This presentation provides preliminary field test results, intercomparison of NREL's Ray Tracing and View Factor bifacial modules against PVSyst, and a SolarWorld empirical model. Some specific attributes of bifacial modeling are addressed including edge effects and rear irradiance non-uniformity / mismatch loss.
