The Iowa City Foreign Relations Council (ICFRC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to “promote understanding of international issues by hosting community forums with expert speakers from around the world.” In the Fall of 2021, ICFRC received a grant to from Humanities Iowa and National Endowment for the Humanities to carry out a project focusing on Iowa refugees and immigrants. Six free public programs aimed to raise the voices and share the stories of refugees and immigrants who come to Iowa were developed. ICFRC board members and partners will discuss the grant, share links to the public programs, and offer Iowa libraries resources to help welcome refugees and immigrants in Iowa.
