Professor and Director of the Obermann Center, Teresa Mangum, joins the Studio to discuss public engagement and the purpose and value of the humanities. She talks about the work she does with The Obermann Center for Advanced Studies as it relates to building national networks for scholars to experiment with new approaches to research and teaching. The Obermann Center for Advanced Studies serves the campus by supporting diverse forms of scholarship and building campus, community, and national networks for scholars who want to experiment with collaborative approaches to research and teaching. Teresa Mangum highlights the challenges and rewards of collaborative work in the humanities and shares news about an upcoming inter-institutional collaboration with 14 Midwestern universities.
