Abstract

A comparative study was performed focusing on the different and unique features of Sofamor-Danek Z-Plate with the previously studied Synthes Anterior Thoraculumbar Locking Plate (ATLP) and the AcroMed Smooth Rod Kaneda device (SRK). Data obtained from the load testing of human spines was used. The Kaneda SRK and the Sofamor-Danek Z-Plates are comparable in the stabilized spines, where the SRK is more rigid following fatiguing. Both are more rigid than the ATLP.
