Spatial data processing systems are now making increasing use of optimization technigues to help decision-makers locate facilities. Because of several shortcomings of these techniques, we develop an expert system to augment current decision-making processes. The developed system consists of a spatial database, with an accompanying rule base derived from empirical knowledge about facility location. Prolog is used as the inference engine.
