Abstract

Aspera is a SmallSat mission funded by the NASA Astrophysics Pioneers program, scheduled to launch in early 2027. The mission is designed to observe diffuse O vi emission at 103.2 nm from the circumgalactic medium of nearby galaxies. Aspera’s payload consists of two long-slit spectrographs with a field of view of 1 deg by 36 arcsec. We plan to conduct calibration observations to measure on-orbit astrometric solutions, dispersion relationships, and effective areas during the mission. Calibration observations will be made in slew mode for astrometric calibration parameters and in staring mode for spectral and flux calibration parameters. The parameters for the spectral and flux calibrations will be determined by comparing the observed spectra with archival data.
